ЗА ОПСТАНАК ГРАФИЧКОГ КОЛЕКТИВА

ДРАГИ ПРИЈАТЕЉИ, ЖЕЛИМО ДА ВАС ОБАВЕСТИМО ДА ЈЕ НАША ИНСТИТУЦИЈА, ГРАФИЧКИ КОЛЕКТИВ, НА ПРАГУ НЕСТАНКА

Графички колектив, институција незаобилазна на културној мапи Београда, Србије, Европе и света, био је приморан да напусти свој галеријски простор у коме се налазио од 1949. године, без видног решења о новом примереном месту живљења! Реституција је неумољива. Ранија неправда нажалост доводи до друге, жртва, у овом случају, је установа која већ 70 година са успехом афирмише и негује визуелну уметност (уметничку графику, графички дизајн, цртеж, фотографију и друге облике ликовне праксе). У овим променама цена је губитак идентитета и брисања симбола културе који су стварани деценијама. У  симболе трајања Графичког колектива уткани су сећање културне јавности која је у овим програмима упознала рад преко 1500 уметника, први перформанс у Србији, појаву новог ликовног израза оличеног кроз групу Медиала, многих дебитаната, касније познатих уметника, стубова српске уметничке сцене, академика, светски афирмисаних уметника: Владимир Величковић, Стојан Ћелић, Леонид Шејка, Хирошига, Шараку, Еxат, Вазарели, Андерле, Група Зебра, Шагал, Дали, Бошко Карановић, Богдан Кршић, Сретен Стојановић, Лазар Вујаклија, Младен Србиновић, Мило Милуновић, Дадо Ђурић, Урош Тошковић, Еро, Бруновски, Вислава Шимборска, Мадервел, Дубравка Угрешић... Део националног културног капитала су око 2.000 самосталних, ауторских, монографских, студијских, ретроспективних и колективних изложби и других догађаја посвећених визуелној уметности. У контексту система Графичког колектива је и Колекција са преко 5000 радова која представља прву збирку савремене послератне графике у Србији.

Графички колектив је дуго био једина институција ове врсте, у којој се континуирано представљала уметност графике, цртежа, фотографије, илустарције и графичког дизајна, у време када то није био случај у целокупној нашој уметничкој сцени.
Графички колектив је за многе генерације уметника, књижевника и интелектуалаца био и остао култно место не само за излагање уметничких дела, већ и место сусрета и размене идеја и актуелности између домаће и светске културне сцене. Синергија различитих креативних актера учинила је да Графички колектив постане баштиник традиције али и медијатор савремене уметности и Кућа уметника чије је трајање неопходно.

Нестанак Графичког колектива значио би брисање значајног дела националне културе, уткане у мрежу савремених светских токова. У очима домаће и стране јавности деловало би као чин несхватљиве аутодеструкције, и свакако би довео до значајног осиромашења на културној мапи Београда и Србије, и нестанка интеракције са многим  институцијама и истанутим уметницима широм света.

DEAR FRIENDS, WE WISH TO INFORM YOU THAT THE GRAPHIC COLLECTIVE, IS ON THE THRESHOLD OF CEASING TO EXIST

The Graphic Collective, an institution that represents an indispensable mark on the cultural map of Belgrade, Serbia, Europe, and the world, had to leave its gallery space, where it has been located since 1949, and with no suitable new space in sight! The restitution is relentless. An earlier injustice has unfortunately led to a new injustice, and this time the victim is an institution that has been successfully promoting and nourishing the visual arts scene (printmaking, graphic design, drawing, photography and other forms of art practice) for not less than 70 years. In this case, the price is the loss of identity and erasure of a cultural symbol that has been meticulously cultivated for decades. The Graphic Collective stands for the memories of the cultural community, built through the gallery's many programs. Here the public has been able to get to know the work and meet over 1500 artists, to see the first ever art performance in Serbia, to encounter the emergence of new artistic expressions embodied in the group Mediala, to see the many exhibitions of debutants, later to become famous artists and posts of the Serbian art scene, academics, world renown artists: Vladimir Veličković, Stojan Ćelić, Leonid Šejka, Hiroshige, Saraku, Exat, Vasarely, Anderle, Zebra Group, Chagall, Dali, Bosko Karanovic, Bogdan Kršić, Sreten Stojanović, Lazar Vujaklija, Mladen Srbinović, Milo Milunović, Dado Đurić, Uroš Tošković, Erro, Brunovsky, Wisława Szymborska, Motherwell, Dubravka Ugrešić ... The around 2.000 solo, curatorial, monographic, research, retrospective and collective exhibitions and other events dedicated to the visual arts, are part of Serbia’s national cultural heritage. The Graphic Collective, just as well, is the guardian of a collection of over 5000 works, the first collection of contemporary printmaking in post-war Serbia.

The Graphic Collective has long been the only institution of its kind, one that has continuously been promoting the art of printmaking, drawing, photography, illustration and graphic design, at a time when that was not common on the art scene.

For many generations of artists, writers, and intellectuals, The Graphic Collective has been a hub, not only for exhibiting works of art, but also a place of encounter and exchange of ideas and local and international art news. The synergy of various creatives has made The Graphic Collective an heir of tradition but also a mediator to contemporary art and a Home for artists, which mustn’t cease to exist.

Letting the Graphic Collective disappear is equal to deleting an important part of national culture, a part interconnected with international trends. In the eyes of the local and international public eye, it would seem as an act of incomprehensible self-destruction, and would certainly lead to a significant depletion of the cultural map of Belgrade and Serbia, and the disappearance of interaction with many institutions and renowned artists around the world.
